As an update on the status of things since the last journal: the new Tamuran site
is up and running, if you haven't seen it yet. And this week we launched our Kickstarter to fund the printing of Book 2 of the comic
- more about that below. And with those things accomplished, I am back from (semi-)lurking for a while, with a backlog of art and other things to post (but not all at once).
As for Tamuran, we just finished Book 2, and will be starting up Book 3 with Chapter 13 on Friday. This chapter will be fun, if a bit overly filled with buildings to draw
for my taste. Then in chapter 15 we'll get to hang out with some new point of view characters. Feels like we're starting to get somewhere!
I was excruciatingly tempted to do NaNoWriMo again this year - got an image into my head that I wanted to write about a week or so before November - but it's a little late for it now. If I started I would HAVE TO HIT 50K WORDS OR ELSE
, and with everything else I need to get done this month that would not be a terribly fun state to operate in. So for now I am having fun hoarding plot threads and character notions like the shiny shiny baubles that they are, and once those have settled I'll see if I can get into the habit of putting down a page or three per day just to see where they go. Good luck to all of you who are
doing NaNo this year! I will be cheering you on from the sidelines!
And as for the Kickstarter - we have books, dragon stuff, watercolors, glitter (thanks to Chezhnian
), music (including Irish bagpipes!) and more. And we're happy to be supporting a really awesome local business by printing with the same small print shop that did Book 1. So if you like Tamuran or any of those other things, please check out the campaign
. It is a very ambitious undertaking for us, and we will need all the help we can get to spread the word, so please share the link and tell everybody!
